Lab-grown diamonds share the exact same chemical composition, crystal structure, hardness, and optical properties as natural diamonds — pure carbon crystals with a Mohs hardness of 10. The only difference lies in how they are born: not through billions of years of geological pressure, but through the precision of modern science.
Lab-Grown Diamonds: Identical to Natural Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds share the same chemical composition, crystal structure, hardness, and optical properties as natural diamonds — pure carbon crystals with a Mohs hardness of 10. The only difference is how they are born: not through billions of years of geological pressure, but through the precision of modern science.
How Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Created?
① CVD — Chemical Vapor Deposition
A thin slice of natural diamond is used as a "seed" and placed inside a vacuum chamber. Carbon-rich gases such as methane are introduced, and under high temperatures (approximately 900–1200°C) and microwave energy, carbon atoms are deposited layer by layer onto the seed — growing into a complete diamond crystal over several weeks. This process produces diamonds of exceptional purity.
② HPHT — High Pressure High Temperature
This method replicates the natural environment deep within the Earth. Carbon source material is subjected to extreme conditions — approximately 1300–1600°C and pressures of 50,000–60,000 atmospheres — causing carbon atoms to rearrange and crystallize into diamond.
Both methods produce diamonds that can be certified by internationally recognized institutions such as IGI and GIA.
Environmental Impact: A More Responsible Choice
Traditional diamond mining takes a significant toll on the environment:
- Approximately 250 tonnes of earth must be moved per carat of natural diamond extracted
- Large-scale open-pit mining causes land degradation and water contamination
- The extraction process generates substantial carbon emissions
Lab-grown diamonds offer a fundamentally different approach:
- No mining required — land and ecosystems remain undisturbed
- Decreasing energy footprint — more facilities are transitioning to renewable energy
- Significantly lower carbon footprint — a more sustainable choice for conscious consumers
Lab-Grown Gemstones: The Same Logic, the Same Beauty
AUREX JEWELRY's lab-grown gemstone collection — including sapphires, emeralds, and rubies — is cultivated using the same principles, replicating the natural growth conditions of precious stones in a controlled environment. Compared to mined gemstones, they offer:
- More uniform color saturation and fewer inclusions
- No association with conflict mining — ethically sourced with full traceability
- Premium quality at a more accessible price point
The AUREX JEWELRY Promise
Every piece we create is set in 18K gold and paired with IGI-certified lab-grown diamonds or carefully selected lab-grown gemstones. Each diamond comes with a complete grading certificate.
We believe true luxury should never come at the cost of the planet — lab-grown jewelry is where beauty and responsibility meet.
